The secondary curriculum is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). Students are also offered access to Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs.

Our focus is on ensuring that every student fulfils their personal potential and is prepared for life’s pathways. Our curriculum emphasises the College-wide commitment to the values of Respect, Excellence, Acceptance and Leadership. Our subject offerings reflect the needs of our school community and provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful ways in the world they live in. The College also offers a broad range of enrichment programs such as ICT Makerspace Clubs, Student Leadership programs, school camps, university immersion program, Homework Club, inter-school sports and instrumental music tuition.

Teaching and learning in the secondary years is supported by the strong pedagogical knowledge of teachers who participate in ongoing professional learning programs. The learning spaces are typified by the innovative use of flexible learning spaces, tailored to meet the demands of specific tasks such as small group work, pair work, independent work or whole class activities. Students participate in explicit instruction as well as project based learning in collaborative groups. Project based learning promotes the delivery of integrated curriculum with an enquiry focus.

Student Wellbeing

We provide a safe and orderly learning environment, built upon positive and respectful relationships. Across the College students of all ages are taught to take responsibility for their decisions and actions. Staff across the school engage with students in a supportive manner to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. In this positive learning climate the students develop a sense of belonging, pride in the school and pride in themselves.

Years 7 to 8

Our dedicated and experienced staff use student learning data to personalise the learning for students to ensure programs are at each student’s ability levels. In Year 7 and 8 the College offers flexible ability groups to allow for differentiation of instruction in English and Maths. Students may move between groups, depending on the skills or content that is being taught. Year 7 and 8 students are provided with opportunities to devise and use problem solving strategies, creatively explore and build on their knowledge of the world. Students are supported to develop organisational skills and learning confidence.

Year 9 – 12

Student engagement and leadership opportunities are a feature of the secondary school program. High quality curriculum, a range of electives and innovative programs, such as the City Centre Experience and the World at Work Program prepare our Year 9 and 10 students for further studies and pathways planning. In Years 9 to 12 students participate in individualised careers planning to support them prepare for life beyond school.

Achievement Scholarships

At each secondary year level, a high achieving student, who demonstrate excellence in learning, is awarded with a scholarship in recognition of their commitment to their academic studies. The College awards five scholarships each year – one for each year level (from Year 7 to 11).
